The Game that Shocked the College Football World

THE GAME THAT SHOCKED COLLEGE FOOTBALL

Rudy Hubbard took the reins in 1974 after the Rattlers had fell from grace. He slowly began to rebuild the proud dynasty and went 6–5 his first year at the helm. Then, the light came on. The Rattlers went 9–2 in 1975, 6–3–2 in 1976, then began a stretch from 1977 -79, racking up a gaudy 30–5 record. The Rattlers went  11–0 in 1977, and 12–1 in 1978, culminating in the inaugural NCAA Division I-AA Football Championship game with a 35–28 thumping of the UMass Minutemen. Today, Florida A&M remains the only Historically black college to win the NCAA Division I-AA Football Championship (now Football Championship Series- FCS). So, if you are reveling in the moment, relax and enjoy this recap.
